Defending Ceremony and Opening Ceremony of Final-Year Projects Exhibition of 60th Cohort in Architecture (2015-2020)

On the 17th June 2020 at the National University of Civil Engineering (NUCE), the Defending Ceremony and Opening Ceremony of Final-Year Projects Exhibition of 60th Cohort in Architecture was organized by Faculty of Architecture and Planning. There was the presence of 145 projects belonging to three majors of Architecture, Planning, and Interior Architecture, in which 32 projects were executed by students of the Architecture training program in English, and in French – all were defended in foreign language. This was the main defending event among the total of 450 students of the 60th Cohort.

NUCE is a prestigious training institution for the major of Architecture, and is also the first institution to train architects among more than 20 institutions that offer this major in Vietnam. NUCE is proud to be one of the first four educational institutions in Vietnam that qualified for international accreditation, and is reforming the training curriculum in the CDIO approach. The training quality of NUCE has been acknowledged and highly praised by the society.

On behalf of Faculty of Architecture and Planning, NUCE, Dr. Nguyen Cao Lanh – Dean of Faculty of Architecture and Planning sent his sincere thanks to all lecturers, and to the concerns of Associations, other institutions that train architects, consultancy companies, medias, guest architects from Vietnam and from abroad who have attended the Ceremony. Dr. Lanh sent his congratulations and encouragements to all students who would be defending their projects, and wished for the success of the Defending Ceremony.

Especially, besides lecturers of the Faculty, Assessment Juries of this year also had the participation of many leading experts in the field of architecture in order to assure the quality in the defense. Moreover, they would provide criticisms, exchange with students their knowledge and skills, inspire students and help them become more confident when pursuing this career.

Results: Excellent projects are at 18/145 (accounted for 12,4%); Very-good and Good projects are at 123/145 (accounted for 84,8%); Average projects are at 4/145 (accounted for 2,8%).

Overall assessment of Juries and of experts: “This year’s projects are designed meticulously and enthusiastically with diversified, meaningful, modern and contemporary topics. Problems concerning people, nature & culture, and humanistic desires are incorporated in the projects through methodical and meticulous approaches and research. This is a promising batch of “New” architects, adding to the manpower of architecture in the future”.
