Joint Coordination Council Meeting of SATREPS Project

On the afternoon of 27th February 2019 at the National University of Civil Engineering (NUCE), the Joint Coordination Council (JCC) Meeting of SATREPS Project was organized. SATREPS Project “Establishment of Environmentally Sound Management of Construction and Demolition Waste and Its Wise Utilization for Environmental Pollution Control and for New Recycled Construction Materials in Vietnam” with NUCE and Saitama University (SU) being the two main collaborators is to be implemented from February 2018 – January 2023 (in 5 years).

Joining the Meeting, there is the presence of: Mr. Tran Dai Hai – Department of Financial Plan, Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), JCC member; Prof. Ken Kawamoto – Project coordinator, SU, JCC member; Mr. Naomichi Murooka – Deputy Representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Vietnam; Assoc. Prof. Vu Ngoc Anh – General Director of Department of Science, Technology and Environment, Ministry of Construction (MOC), JCC member; Dr. Nguyen Trung Thang – Deputy Director of Institute of Strategy and Policy on Natural Resources and Environment (ISPONRE), JCC member; Assoc. Prof. Mai Thi Lien Huong – Director of Department of Technical Infrastructure, MOC, JCC member; Mr. Noriyuki Nakamura – Project Coordinator, JICA Vietnam. On behalf of NUCE, there is the presence of: Assoc. Prof. Pham Duy Hoa – Rector; Prof. Phan Quang Minh – Project Director, Vice-Rector.

Overview of the Meeting

Giving speech at the Meeting, Assoc. Prof. Pham Duy Hoa – Rector of NUCE requests project members to report results of activities in the past year, in which focus on difficulties, conveniences, completed tasks and outstanding tasks that need to be solved in order to adjust the plan of action in 2019-2020, as well as to direct the following years according to actual conditions to achieve specified goals. On behalf of the Council, Assoc. Prof. Pham Duy Hoa sends his thank to Japan Embassy in Vietnam and JICA who have always accompanied and supported the project. He also thanks MOET, MOC, ISPONRE, Hai Phong City People’s Committee, Hanoi Department of Construction, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and project members for cooperating and contributing to the success of the project.

Subsequently, Mr. Naomichi Murooka – Deputy Representative of JICA Vietnam informs that this meeting is a necessary event in the progress of SATREPS Project “Establishment of Environmentally Sound Management of Construction and Demolition Waste and Its Wise Utilization for Environmental Pollution Control and for New Recycled Construction Materials in Vietnam” which is to last 5 years. Within this meeting, the two parties will actively report the state of implementation of the project and discuss to effectively solve existing problems in order to achieve the best results in the future.

After the meeting, on behalf of Project Management Unit of SATREPS Project on Vietnam side, Prof. Phan Quang Minh acknowledges the ideas and will adjust agreed content to effectively implement the project in subsequent years.
