General information

National University of Civil Engineering (NUCE) was established in 1966 from the former biggest  Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Hanoi University of Technology. Founded in the war condition, the University had to change its campus location many times, and as a result became scattered.
In 1980 the University officially moved back to Hanoi but still located separately in 5 campuses. In 1991 the University campuses were gathered at one official location in No.55 Giai Phong Road, Hai Ba Trung District - a Southern district of Hanoi. NUCE is presently a complex of high rise buildings with modern facilities, adequately meeting the increasingly high demand of education in the field of civil engineering in Vietnam.

Experiencing through many difficulties during the past 45 years of building and development, NUCE is proud to be the most comprehensive  and highly qualified education institution in the field of capital construction  and civil engineering at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Apart from education, the University is also a center for scientific research and technological transfer and application of achievements in the field of civil engineering.
In the context of industrialization and modernization process of Vietnam and under Vietnamese Government Resolution on Education and Training, NUCE is taking all its efforts aiming at educating active and creative human resources being capable of solving practical problems, contributing to the development of the country of Vietnam. 
On 2nd November 2005, Vietnamese Government issued Resolution No. 14/2005/NQ-CP on fundamental and comprehensive renovation of education at university level in Vietnam in 2006 – 2020 phase. Implementing the direction of the Government, Ministry of Education and Training has developed and issued “Project on Renovation of University Education in Vietnam, Period 2006 – 2010”. All activities of NUCE are implemented following the direction of University Education Renovation, contributing to the development of the Education and Training Sector, serving for the industrialization – modernization process of Vietnam.
The objective of NUCE from now to 2020 is to become the leading university in education and research in the field of civil engineering and a core university in Vietnam, step by step integrate in the regional and global university system.
Organizational Structure
The University currently comprises of 11 faculties, 2 institutes, 1 Center of Continuing  Education and 56 teaching departments  (01 department directly belong to University and 55 departments belong to faculties), 13 supportive departments, 3 boards, 1 monitoring station, 1 consulting company and 14 centers and institutes for Science and Technology Research and application and the International Cooperation Center for Education and Consultancy.
Staff
At the end of June, 2012, total number of university staff is 1020, including 916 permanent staff and 104 contracted staff, of the total 786 are lecturers and 234 are supportive office employees. The University has 24 professors, 81 associate professors, 216 doctors and 419 masters. Up to now, among the teaching staff of NUCE, 9 lecturers have been awarded “People’s Honor Teacher” title and 75 lecturers granted with “Emeritus“. 80,78% of teaching and academic staff possess post graduate degrees.

The University is also a scientific and technological research center to bridge the gap of practical production with advanced outcomes of science and technology in the field of civil engineering.

Total area:  3.9 Ha.
One 6 floors Class building, One 4 floors Class building, 10 floors Laboratory building, 900 seats Meeting hall, 4 floors library, sport center and one 6 floor administrative building.
Residential house for student: 7464 m2.
